Since 2004 the Throwdown crew
have been working alongside London based educational charity “The
Complete Works” www.tcw.org.uk
and the “Theatre is…”
arts organization www.theatreis.org
to offer a wide range of workshops including breaking, popping,
hip hop dance, MC/Rap, DJing, drama and graffiti to people of
all ages and abilities.
Workshop residencies in and around London, South East England,
Norfolk, and the East of England have included:

• Primary and Secondary schools
• NEET projects
• Its Our Theatre project
• Care homes
• Colleges
• Youth conferences
• Community fairs/events
• Social worker placements
• Mixed ability schemes
Throwdown workshop leaders specialise in working with young people
with behavioural difficulties, emotional issues, and those who’ve
been excluded from mainstream education.
The ITS OUR THEATRE project
is an arts council funded pilot project which is one of most
successfull hip hop theatre projects that THROWDOWN have ever
have involved with!
A colaboration
between THROWDOWN and Theatre is.. (the east of England's
regional hub theatre company), the aim of the ITS OUR THEATRE
project was to bring hip hop theatre to the counryside,
by bringing the full THROWDOWN crew of breakers, graffers,
beatboxers, muscians,rappers, script writers and choreographers
up to the wilds of North Norfolk to throw down, inspire
and train up local 13-19 years olds into a fully fledged
hip hop crew! The result was North Norfolks first all elements
hip hop crew: 10YFN!
